It's no secret-- I have the worst case of last-quarter-of-grad-school-itis ever. I didn't know how I was going to make it through my last quarter of grad school. Would I guzzle beer? Depend on a stash of family-size bags of licorice? Would the guy at 7-Eleven know my name from all the times I ran in for an emergency pint of Ben & Jerry's?
Surprisingly, none of the above (although a few bottles of wine can be counted among the casualties). Before I even realized it, I somehow made it to the halfway point! It's a scary thought that I'm currently working on a midterm for one class and have passed in my first of three projects for another.
Funny story about that first project. My original proposal was to create a web package (to be published on the RedEye Wrigleyville blog I write for) based around the theme of cute date night ideas in the neighborhood.
Then I got dumped.
After incessant whining about how I'd have to go on these dates I had already set up alone, I dreaded this project and all that came with it. So I procrastinated. And procrastinated some more. Then a light bulb went off.
My friend Ally had volunteered to go with me, and then her two roommates wanted in on the fun. Last Friday, the four of us had a ball and a girls' night drinking beer and hanging out in the batting cage at my favorite Wrigleyville bar. Then we played some skeeball and hit the dance floor. And from this, my new project was born.
Ditch the Dudes! Where to Have a Girls' Night Out in Wrigleyville.
Enjoy!

Game night rocks! It reminds me of the My Boys game decathlon. Who doesn't love Candyland? -Monika
ReplyDeleteHaha I know, me too (to the decathlon and Candyland comments)! I still need to find out what bar "Crowley's" is here so we can go if you ever come to visit! :)
